Map
This is a map of the 50-acre horse facility and the entire 900 acre property.

Rooted in katy since 1898
As the MKT railroad extended to the Houston Ship Channel, the Freeman Family joined the first wave of families settling in Katy in 1898. Merle D. Jr. and his dad, Merle D. purchased the 900-acre property in 1948. The property started as a rice farm until the mid 90s, when the Freemans decided to focus more on livestock. In 2002, Derek Freeman, Merle D Jr's son, opened Freeman Ranch and Stables with the intention of broadening the ranch's operations. Through generations of hard work and adaptability, the Freeman family has transformed their 900-acre property from a rice farm into a cornerstone of Katy's agricultural and equestrian community, leaving a lasting legacy of innovation and resilience.
